Next disconnect the electrical connectors. Then pull the heating element connectors green arrows straight off the mirror to remove them. Put your fingers the nearest to the mirror center as possible from behind and applying some brute force pull it out. You should then be able to get your fingers behind it and pop the glass out this is the dangerous bit. Its very easy once the glass is removed. Use a plastic prying tool to lever the bottom of the cover off. When doing this you are levering the bottom of the mirror cover down while pulling it away from the mirror assembly toward the front of the vehicle.

Then rotate flip the cover upward and remove it. Turn the glass to its furthers point towards the car. To install new glass connect the electrical connectors if equipped.
